  •  Now Accepting Student Applications for the 2014 Allan V. Wexler Scholarship...Dr. Kathryn Falk, Chair of the Georgia Cares Committee overseeing the Georgia Optometric Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2014 Allan V. Wexler Scholarship. The Wexler Scholarship, first awarded in June 2007 has been an ongoing tribute to the late Dr. Allan Wexler, in honor of his lifetime of service to both the profession of Optometry and to the Georgia Optometric Association. We are very proud to continue his legacy by awarding this scholarship in his name to the very bright, up and coming future optometrists. It is also an honor that Mrs. Gail Wexler and the Wexler Family continue to take a part by reviewing all the applications and give their input on each of the candidates. This year’s recipient of the $1,500 scholarship will be announced at the 2014 GOA Fall Education Conference, October 17-19, 2014 in Athens, GA. If you know any student that would qualify for this scholarship, we ask that you  please share this information with them and encourage them to apply. The Scholarship Application return date is September 1, 2014. No Exceptions!
  • The GOA is Now Accepting Nominations for its Annual Awards... Do you know a colleague that should be recognized as GOA's OD or Young OD of the Year? How about a colleague that has shown exemplary service to not only the profession but also to his or her community? Dr. Judson Briggs, GOA's Award Committee Chairman, asks that you please submit any and all nominations for consideration by September 1st, 2014. Award winners will be announced and recognized in front of their colleagues at this upcoming GOA Fall Education Conference in Athens. You may find the criteria for the awards and the nomination form here
  • Congratulations to our new 2014-2015 GOA President Dr. Jeff Hackleman. Dr. Hackleman was sworn into office on Saturday, June 6th, 2014 at the GOA Annual Meeting. Dr. Hackleman's theme for his year is "Fostering the Future of Optometry". His goals are to position and prepare the profession, as well as the association, to be ready for the changes in the future. He seeks to have local districts meet more frequently and for young OD's to become involved in the association. You can view Dr. Hackleman's full Presidential Address where he outlines these goals and more by clicking on his Vimeo Video
